About the project
Donation amount: 500 €
Greenpeace Russia Fire Fighting Project
Goal: decrease the damage the environment in Russia suffers from fires. What we do:
  1. Make sure that governmental agencies make realistic and honest assessment of the scale of fires in natural areas in Russia.
  2. Fight fires that threaten higher conservation value natural areas if the state fails to do it itself.
  3. Help in developing a forest and peat-bog fire fighting system able to cope with the real scale of fires.
  4. Train volunteers; develop and put into practice mechanisms that enable individuals and non-governmental organizations to take part in fire fighting activities.
  5. Make the authorities take measures to stop grass fires and destroy the myth about the necessity and safety of such fires.
